General Questions:
What is food prep? -It is what it is..the preparation of food.
Why is it helpful? -You are going to eat what's in your fridge, bottom line. If you have healthy options, it only makes this process easier! Especially if the foods are already to be eaten. See how meal time just became a breeze? No more wondering what your lunch as work will be like, your prepared!
What foods should I prep? -I made a list of foods that I tend to prep. *the picture above is of PRECUT squash ready to buy*
Lean ground turkey (If you like onion, add half a cup of chopped onions while you brown the meat!) Brown rice & Quinoa -I make this by the cup. It usually lasts the whole week! Veggies -dice up (even sauté) onions, peppers, tomatos, cucumbers, etc. Spaghetti squash and sweet potatoes take 10-15 minutes in the microwave. I make a whole squash and normally two large sweet potatoes for a week. Asparagus can be prepped ahead as well, be caution because it can get soft if overlooked and become soggy!
How should I store my prepped foods? -you can do two things! 1. You can store them like you would leftovers in containers and portion them out as you eat them. Or 2. You can purchase meal containers that are divided and plan your meals ahead of time! This makes it easier for "grab and go" situations! Less thinking in the evenings or early morning!
